Today is a rest day here at the Mexican Hill Ranch. I am sitting here posting this but mostly missing my Cita and thinking about and missing my family.
Coming up on April 25th! Don't miss it! |
Day 31
We left La Grange in a cold overcast, threatening rain. A couple of hours into the ride though it began to clear and after another hour or so we were shedding outerwear like crazy and had a wonderful ride for the remainder of our 90 mile day (OK,, 89.5 but who's counting?)
We had a lunch stop in Independence TX under the restored entry of the original Baylor University building.
Even though we are technically out of the "Hill Country" we had well over four thousand feet of climbing and descent today here in "flat" south central Texas... go figure...
We are staying two nights at the Mexican Hill Ranch, a popular stop for cyclists on the Southern It's run by a very nice guy that make all sorts of facilities available to cyclists free of charge including a washer dryer, bike stand and tools in a nice repair shed/garage, great showers and nice relaxing facilities, even if we do over-stress them with our numbers.
I thought we had cleared all the rain that is affecting all the south-east since it was so clear and nice yesterday and the forecast said it was all east of us. At midnight we were clobbered by a huge thunderstorm with very high winds and driving rain. Long line to use the free dryer this morning, let me tell you!
